Let’s not leave out …
Let’s not leave out the Rolling Stones, also from Britain and started in 1965, just a couple short years after the Beatles made waves in the United States.

of course i am, but …
of course i am, but rock and roll has changed since then. a huge factor in that change was the beatles. there’s a distinct difference in 50’s rock and roll and rock from the 60s onwards. the beatles were undeniably influential in this change. that’s the truth

That was pretty …
That was pretty cool, actually! I wish they would have kept going. I think I’d like to hear a band do that all night, kind of like a greatest hits of guitar riffs without all the filler—just the best parts of the songs that we like to hear!

I guess you’re not …
I guess you’re not familiar with Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, or Bill Haley and the Comets, rock legends who were all popular BEFORE the Beatles.

?
i’m saying that …
?
i’m saying that blues and jazz had a great influence upon rock and roll, in fact it was the basis for all rock and roll. but it was quite repetitive before the beatles came along (as in CHORD STRUCTURE, the i-iv-v 12 bar blues). the beatles changed everything. its the truth (unless someone else came along and did the same thing, but the fact is it didn’t happen)

“without the beatles every single rock and roll song would be three or less chords…ac/dc would probably be a hillbilly band ”
You pretty much seem to contradict yourself. Anybody can look at that and see that you basically said that without the beatles, all rock would be repetative and boring as it is today.
Try thinking out your posts carefully before you put them in.

you say they’re an …
you say they’re an important piece of rock history
as for whether or not they’re the sole reason, i say that they aren’t. what i’m trying to say is that they ARE the most important reason as compared to anyone else, though they aren’t personally my very favorite band to listen to (one of them though, i probably prefer the who)
but yeah, it was extremely ignorant of you not to consider them rock. they’re just about as much or more rock than anyone else.
March 2nd, 2010 at 11:37 am
Yeah, so I guess …
Yeah, so I guess the entire history of blues that the Beatles had nothing to do with didn’t influence anything when it came to rock. Or the other bands that were out around the same time.
I’ll admit they’re an important piece of rock history, but anyone that spouts them off as the sole reason is a moron.
Way to go moron.

Those extra three should have been as followed.
Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath
It’s a long way to the top – AC-DC
Hotel California – The Eagles
As for Beatles.. well I never considered them rock, but then that’s just my opinion.
