They didn’t think … They didn’t think they would become famous. You don’t join a very fringe rock movement with the goal of becoming famous. If they had wanted to be famous, they would have tried more mainstream rock or pop…not something that few people listened to at the time. None of them thought they’d ever be making records. They never thought that they would one day be remembered for being the pioneers of punk rock.
malcom found the … malcom found the sex pistols easily. peaople are too “punk” too admit it. with out malcom the sex pistols would’ve been an other go nowhere band.
he didn’t find the new york dolls. they made themselvs
If it was about … If it was about rock n’ roll than none of these would be on this documentary.
they all wanted to become famous one reason or another. life is the aprentice.
i saw this one, and … i saw this one, and the punk episode of another series like it on much music when i was fourteen… it piqued my curiosity to track down a lot of records and has had a lasting influence on my musical interests
That’s a Bold Face … That’s a Bold Face LIE!!!When The Beatles recorded and sang “Yesterday” in “early” 1965,the velvet underground weren’t singing or recording SHIT!! Their first album came out in 1967!! The most harrowing(and relaistic) depiction of Heroin addiction EVER recorded to music was John Lennon’s 1969 Classic “Cold Turkey”.
this was a great … this was a great series, but the best part was the opening title sequence for each episode: an spinning electric guitar rises in slow motion until it exits the top of the frame, then comes down in flames.
i saw a ten part … i saw a ten part documentary produce by the BBC, i remember it was broadcast on an university t.v. channel here in mexico, i taped some of the shows but i can’t find the video tapes. does anybody knows if that series is now avaliable in dvd?…greate series though
