Can anyone suggest a good book about the history of rock and roll?

Please Kill Me (The Oral History of Punk Rock) is a great book, even if you’re not a big punk fan. I received it ten years ago as a dubious Christmas gift, but ended up loving it. It’s LOADED with information that is completely pertinent to rock and roll and its many roots, from Iggy & The Stooges to The Ramones to The Velvet Undergound and everyone in between! Plus it’s inexpensive, and a smooth read.
