Almost 90 years of “rocking & rolling.” Rock music has a rich history going back long before the sixties. This is a look at different styles of “rock and roll” going back to the 1920s, even before.
@Shibzle Hey! … @Shibzle Hey! It’s a demo track by a band called Childproof. I got it after I found some of the band’s videos here. It was a while ago – late 2006 to early 2007. I actually don’t know the name of the song. There are four tracks on the demo CD, and this is the first.
Thanks Diddley. … Thanks Diddley. You’ve got to find a place to slip in Ike Turner’s “Rocket 88″ (1951). With it’s heavy backbeat and distorted guitar, most Rock historians consider it to be the true water-shed moment when Rythmn and Blues could now be called Rock N Roll.
gotta agree with … gotta agree with the notion that white culture owes a lot to “black” creativity-without it I think that white culture would be unhappy, depressive, without any dancing skills and void of any human feeling-but taking it to the point that saying that white culture isn’t interesting is far from truth
hmm strange i never … hmm strange i never saw much of anything mentioned about Rockabilly music, the combination of southern white hillbilly music and southern black rhythm and blues! Or not even jimmie Rodgers! or Robert Johnson! If you listen to rodgers or Johnson you can clearly hear the rural influence on Rock music!
I don’t think … I don’t think that’s his lifespan…. I think it’s a copyright declaration for the song denoted by the “c.” it must have been released in 1949 and the album cover ( I think that’s what it is ) was created in 1952.
1940’s. rock n roll … 1940’s. rock n roll was the first comercialised music, targeting a white teenage audience. the same sound but a different audience. the recording companies wanted that black sound but ideally played by white kids. there where exceptions such as chuck berry, little richard. while rock n roll was developing, the black market where creating a different sound, motown, which i think proved stronger developing into soul and disco, by the 70’s, where as rock n roll seemed to fizzle out after the 50’s.
Very impressive, … Very impressive, great research! I will watch many times again that compilation.
And also, quite reletvant explanation on why black kids who don´t listen to rock and roll anymore, just to hip-hop. I wonder if the same thing happen ins non-English speaking countries.
This is an … This is an excellent compilation about the records using this term, but i would like to say the term was use since the beggining of the 19th century in the ships of slaves, according to some historians… Rock and roll means the moves of the ship’s like the arms of Moses in that age
