My daughter is having a rocker/diva birthday party, where everyone dresses like a rock star or diva. For the goody bag, I already have sunglasses, disco necklaces and bracelets. I am looking for candy ideas to put in the bag as well. I thought of Pop rocks but need help with other candy ideas that relate to the rock & roll theme. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
How about putting in a pack of bubblegum.

I will be traveling to San Fransisco in a month where are some cool Rock & Roll points of interest?
I am a huge Metallica fan and would appreciate any input as to where there are some other neat areas to visit while I am there. Thanks, also I will be staying in the Parc 55 hotel, area code 94102.
Well for starters you must go to the Hard Rock Cafe on pier 39 other than that Haight is a pretty cool area and the birthplace of the hippie movement.
Is there any website where I can read Grace Slick’s Somebody To Love: A Rock-and-Roll memoir for free?
The full thing….. ummmmm I can’t pay money…… thanks..
I read my sister’s copy of that book, in paperback. I doubt that you’ll find it free on-line to read, but you could surely locate it on ebay or at http://www.amazon.com for an inexpensive price — Amazon usually has links to used copies of books. The paperback would not cost very much. It’s a great period rock and roll memoir, well worth buying! I really enjoyed it!
Addendum: Actually, I just checked Amazon, and the book is available there, but the prices are outrageous!
I also tried ebay; it’s available there, too; one offer is about $20 + shipping at a "Buy it now" price.
I guess that, if you really want it, you’re going to have to pay for it!
Arrows, I Love Rock N Roll, Alan Merrill
The original a-side version from 1975 by the band Arrows. The group were produced by British legend Mickie Most, and the tune was written by Arrows Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker. The song was later covered by Joan Jett, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and many more. Lead vocals & bass guitar by Alan Merrill, guitar & backing vocals by Jake Hooker, and drums and backing vocals by Paul Varley.
The Arrows released both an a-side version and a b-side version of this particular song.
Having their own TV series, the band recorded many versions of their songs for performance on the show, in accordance with musician’s union rules at the time.
The video was made in three locations. The park is Berkeley Square, London England, W1, the street scenes are on Charles Street, same area. The performance was filmed
on Quay Street in Manchester England, at the Granada/ITV studios.
This clip aired on Granada/ITV in 1976, produced by Muriel Young and directed by Peter Walker.
Clip trivia: The mystery man standing by the tree with the Arrows at the end of this clip is Monsieur Kamayatsu of the legendary Japanese band The Spiders.
Cosmic oddity: Arrows singer Alan Merrill and Joan Jett are both left handed, but play their instruments right handed.
More trivia- Joan Jett was initially introduced to her manager Kenny Laguna by a tv producer named Alan Sacks. Arrows singer Alan Merrill’s legal birth name is Allan Sachs, same pronounciation. A little eerie, don’t you think?

Why is it no one today knows the difference between Rock & Roll and other Rock/Pop/Folk songs?
Rock and Roll consists of a fast played Blues progression, usually in 12 bars or 3 chords played as 4-2-2-1-1-1-1. meaning each chord is repeated as in A-A-A-A-D-D-A-A-E-D-A-E while Rock grew out of this.
Probably because most people don’t know what real rock is these days. Awesome avatar by the way, Space Ghost is awesome!

What would be a good song to sing at a solo competition for a soprano? It can be anything,Broadway,rock&roll..?
I’m a soprano with a large range: from lower alto one to descant. And like i said it can be anything from Broadway to rock and roll but it needs to be exciting, a real audience getter!!! and not in a language other than english please!
Here are some possibilities…
Gimme Gimme from Modern Millie
The Girl in 14G by Kristin Chenoweth (or any other song by her)
Bride’s Lament from Drowsy Chaperone
Green Finch and Linet Bird from Sweeney Todd
Vanilla Ice Cream from She Loves Me
That’ll Show Him from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To the Forum
Once Upon a Time from Brooklyn
Glitter and be Gay from Candide
I hope this helps.
