I’m forming a 50s themed rock band. We play mostly early rock & roll cover songs, but also some hard rock, metal and punk.
I have narrowed the list to 8 possible names. Which one is the best?

Nick and the Wolfmen
Nick and the Thunderbolts
The Death Adders
The Pit Vipers
No offence Sharon, but those names sound ridiculous

for your chosen theme I think The Desperados is the coolest.
Nick and the Wolfmen would work better if you added a surname to it.

Nick and the Thunderbolts sounds most "50-ish" to me, altho the other, Nick and the Wolfmen remind me of Wolfman Jack.
Most of the others are a little too "dark" imo (except Desperados and Bearcats)… Hell, Demons, Death, and Vipers – Okay, Vipers aren’t too bad – may not give the impression you want. Desperados and Bearcats make me think of the wild west. And on second thought, I like the Pit Vipers, too.

The Desperados – BEEN DONE SO MANY TIMES you won’t even get a gig.
The Bearcats – Sounds like a cartoon
The Helldivers – bit too much in my opinion
The Demons – again, too much to say you also do covers
Nick and the Wolfmen – LIKE IT ! ! ! !
Nick and the Thunderbolts – almost Like it
The Death Adders – mmmm…. could work
The Pit Vipers – Nope.

unfortuanately some of those names have allready been used by bands during the psychobilly craze in the uk of the 1980`s
i allways wanted to call my band at the time wurlitzer 1 4 the money ( as a play on words of the opening lines of blue suede shoes)
